Uniting Communities. Preserving Culture.
Creating Change.

Being a community-led, grassroots organization in Eastern Kentucky, we at The Mountain Grrl Experience greatly value partnerships with organizations such as The Appalachian Pioneer Program. We believe in what the APP stands for and share their passion to create positive change in our area. The support and friendship of Austin Shuck and all those involved with the APP have been vital to our success and continues to mean a great deal to us.

Who We Are
The Appalachian Pioneer Program (APP) was born from a personal journey of resilience and a deep love for Appalachia. Founder Austin Shuck lost his home to a tornado in 2012, an experience that shaped his family’s understanding of disaster recovery and the urgent need for community-driven aid.
That loss became a driving force behind APP’s mission: to help communities rebuild, not just after disasters, but by strengthening their cultural and economic foundations.
By combining direct relief efforts with the promotion of music, art, local businesses, and Appalachian traditions, we are raising awareness for the unique geopolitical issues that shape this region - and working toward sustainable, long-term solutions.
